Home TheaterSetup Overview
- TV: Samsung 65" U8000FD Crystal UHD 4K Smart TV (latest firmware)
- Soundbar: Samsung Q65C Soundbar (latest firmware)
- Both devices support eARC
- HDMI cables: New 8K-certified cables supporting eARC
Connection Layout
- TV’s eARC HDMI port → Soundbar’s eARC HDMI port
- Roku → TV HDMI 2 port
Problem
When watching YouTube or Paramount+, Roku TV app, etc via Roku Ultra, the Roku randomly reboots whenever the screen fades to black. After rebooting, the TV returns to its home screen, as if a power cycle occurred.
Initially, I thought the Roku was at fault. However, when I connected my laptop to the TV and played a video that faded to black, the TV went back to the "Home Screen".
This problem did not occur with my previous Samsung TV, which did not support eARC

Home Theater
UPDATE:
I figured out what it was after troubleshooting for a bit. I noticed that the soundbar restarted when this happened. I realized that it was my Smart Energy power strip, my TV is plugged into the master, when that shuts off, everything else does. When the screen goes black long enough, the TV power draw decreases and the strip shut everything off as it "thought" the TV was off.
There's an adjustment dial on the strip, once adjusted, everything works as it should.
