Weather complication won't update unless refreshing manually on Galaxy Watch 7

I've had my Galaxy Watch 7 for a week and the weather complication never updates unless I manually refresh the weather in the weather app on my watch. I never had this issue on my Galaxy Watch 6 so this must be a new bug with One UI 6. 

If it helps I have location permission set to always on for both the weather app on my watch and my wearable app on my phone. I have automatic refreshing set to every hour. I'm using this watch with a Google Pixel 8 so I wonder if this bug is only with non Galaxy phones as it doesn't seem widely reported.

I "fixed" this by setting a rule in the Automate app, that kills the "Galaxy Watch7 Manager" app every hour.

The app restarts itself after being killed and the weather data are refreshed.

This is a low-key genius suggestion. Thanks @prew. I'm going to try this with my GW6 Classic to see if it works. Google Weather is a poor work around at best because of the lack of complication integration like others have mentioned. There is also no option to specify an auto-refresh rate for it, so who knows when it actually refreshes.

Edit: Yes, this is still an issue in April of 2025. GW6 Classic w/Moto Razr 2024

Edit 2: I was also able to successfully create a loop with Automated that kills the Galaxy Watch 6 manager every hour, which forces the weather to refresh automatically every hour.

It's an effective solution, but really annoying to set up. I'll attempt to give an overview.

After you install Automate, you need to go into the settings and set up the "Privileged service" with the wireless method (so Automate is allowed to kill other apps). Use the "Wireless method" where Automate points you to specific Android settings, and then you need to type a passcode that is displayed in order to link it.

Once Automate has privileges, create a new "Flow", add a "Kill app" block, select Galaxy Watch 6 Manager app. Then after the kill block, add a "Delay" block (I used 1hr, but you can pick any time period you wish to have refreshed weather for). Link the Start block to the Kill block, the Kill block to the Delay block, then link the end of the Delay block back to the Kill block (creating a loop).

Now, go to the flows screen and "Start" the flow. Whew.

Same here, no syncing of weather complication with Pixel 5. It's a shame that Samsung binds such simple function to a Samsung phone. The idea that more people will buy Samsung phones because of this policy is weired: It's the opposite, less people will buy Samsung smart watches. Imagine the positive impact of opening ECG and blood pressure to non-Samsung phones (which is definetely NO rocket science). It's just poor Software writing capabilites to rely on specific Samsung OS functions for syncing etc. Use standard Android APIs and your done.

I don't believe it's a "non samsung" phone issue. I have an S25 ultra and the galaxy watch ultra weather complication does not update on its own.
