Hello, Thanks for being part of the Community. We understand the concern with receiving a "Watch is cooling down" message when trying to charge the watch, and for the watch to not charge.

Here is an article with some factors that can affect the temperature of the watch.  https://www.samsung.com/us/support/answer/ANS00076952/

Have you tried performing a reset on the watch? https://www.samsung.com/us/support/answer/ANS00084702/

Also check to see if the software is up-to-date.

We also recommend submitting feedback immediately when the issue occurs to provide this information to the engineering team. Feedback can be submitted following these steps: https://us.community.samsung.com/t5/Tips-Tricks/How-to-Send-Feedback/ba-p/3001692

If the watch is still overheating and not charging, service would typically be recommended. However, the Watch Active 2/ Gear S2 are no longer supported devices. You are welcome to find a local repair shop that may be able to repair the watch, or contact your local retailer to replace the watch.
