Samsung keyboard switch switch to GBoard

I was using GBoard on my watch 7 and it was working great. I don't like using Samsung keyboard. Now I got watch 8, installed GBoard, updated everything but for some reason I can't switch to GBoard. Whatever I do my settings stay with Samsung keyboard. I tried to reset the watch but it didn't work. How do I set it to default.

Have you gone into general settings on the watch and set it there. I have no problems with GBoard on any of my 3 Galaxy Watches.

I had that same issue when I first got my Watch 7.  I put in an error report, but I'm not sure anything ever came of it, as the only notification I got was acknowledgement receipt of the repot.  I just waited a few days and all of a sudden it started working and has ever since.  There was a thread on this a while back -earlier this year, I think, where a whole bunch of people had this issue. I think it was Google's issue and they did some kind of fix.  Have you cleared the watch's cache partition?

I found the solution. I turns out I had gboard only on my watch but not on my phone. After installing it on my phone I could switch it 😂

One thing should have nothing to do with the other, but whatever worked for you.  Google keyboard for the phone is better anyway.
