I don't know what happened or what changed but my WhatsApp app on my watch said I needed to update but it won't let me update it.
I uninstalled it and reinstalled it and I get stuck at the screen where I have to check my phone with the code and I click pair it says downloading messages and then it just stays at that screen nothing happens
I had that issue. I didnt do anything special. I did run into the syncing issue, I had to instal and uninstall the app several times befor it finally linked.
After upgrading to UI 8, the locked chats on the whatsapp stopped showing notification on the phone. I tried to link the app again and it fails at "The version of whatsapp is obsolete" error on the watch. Play store shows the app to be updated. I have tried to reinstall, reboot watch and phone but nothing seems to be working.
Update watch & phone with Whatsapp on Galaxy updates with Bluetooth turned off on both. Reboot both. Turn blue back on on watch first and then phone. Make sure phone recognizes watch in Bluetooth. Should work now.

So i uninstalled the app on my watch. Reinstalled it on the watch itself and linked back to the phone. Once it displayed "loading chats" on the watch, i pressed the home button on the side of the watch. It works fine now...
