I really appreciate all the quality of life features added to the new One UI 8 Watch, But can someone please bring back the old notification style where if I'm wearing my watch, the notifications on my phone can be silenced while the watch makes the notification sound? I don't like the new options where either A) if the phone is unlocked then the watch does not receive the notification or B) where both the phone AND the watch make the notification sound. It's annoying to have to mute my phone all the time when wearing my watch and having to turn the sound back on when the watch is off.

The new One UI 8 Watch brings some great quality of life improvements, but many users miss the older notification style where the phone stayed silent while the watch handled alerts. The current setup where either the phone takes priority or both devices notify can be frustrating, especially for those who rely on the watch for discreet alerts. Hopefully, Samsung considers bringing back the smarter notification handling in future updates. Just like smart notifications make life easier. like FIFO airport transfers Perth services that run smoothly in the background.

If you rely on the watch for discreet alerts just silence thoe notification sound on the watch. The vibration ahould be sufficient to let you know there's a notification.

Oh, did they change that?  I have always left the notifications sound/appear on my phone.  My watch is silent - always.  The vibration on the watch is enough for me to know I have a notification.  My personal preference is for my watch to make no sound at all.  It would disappoint me, though, if the notifications did not come to my watch at all just because my phone is unlocked. It's the whole reason I got the watch. If you don't like the change, I suggest sending feedback to the development team via the feedback link in the support tab of the Members app.  The more feedback they get, the more likely they are to make adjustments.  https://us.community.samsung.com/t5/Tips-Tricks/How-to-Send-Feedback/ba-p/3001692

Not sure about the sound issue, would have to look into it...

As for thenot receiving notifications on watch, turning off Smart Device Selection should fix that. 1753280801150.jpg

Those are the selections? It seems to me there should be one more - "show notifications on watch only when on wrist".  I mean, it's fine for me as it is, but not the OP.

Yeah, I've also found that even with "Always Show on both, some notifications that appear on my phone do not appear on my watch even though they did before the update. Definitely something they should look into

I had to go into the section for individual app notifications and toggle some apps back on. Not sure why they were turned off after update.

I don't like this change. I always had notifications off on watch when using phone.

Well, according to the smart device selection, that will still be the case. If your phone is on, or you are using it, notifications will go to the phone.  I prefer to have them on both, since I am not always near my phone.  The whole point of the watch is to get the notifications when the phone is in your pocket, bag or you are not near it. I like having it on the phone, as well, so If I remember that I have a notification that I have to interact with when I have the phone back in my hand.  I guess, in the end, all that really matters s one gets the notifications.
