Can we please bring back the "Mute notifcations on phone", The 2 options that we are given with OneUI 8.0 are bad. If I am wearing my Galaxy Watch I do not need my phone to make noise, whether I am looking at the screen or not.

So, just put the setting on Smart Device Selection. When you are wearing your watch, notifications will go to your watch and be muted on your phone if your phone is not in active use. You can also create a routine to mute the notification sounds when connected to your watch, or just simply keep your notification volume off when you are wearing your watch. There's a reason each volume type has a separate control. No reason to get upset at something so easily fixed.

If I am actively using my phone while wearing my watch why do the notification sounds now need to be played. Turning the notification volume down doesn't make sense when there was a perfectly fine option to mute the phone while wearing my watch that didn't need to be removed. Your suggestion is essentially telling me I'm using my equipment wrong.
I understand each volume type has its own control, it's pretty much been like that since android 4.4.
Creating a routine is just using more steps to do what we used to be able to do with 1 step.

Well that option doesn't exist anymore, so we do what we can to get the result we want. If you don't want the notification sounds, just turn the notification volume off. It's that simple. As for your assertion that creating a routine is doing more steps, well, you only have to create the routine once and never think about it again. So not really more steps. Turning the notification volume down each and every time you don your watch would be extra steps.

If it irritates you so much that they changed the setting and now you have to do something else for the same result, put in a feedback report with the developers. What do you think the "mute notifications on phone" setting was other than a baked in routine?

What irritates me is both of thr new options are bad. Option 1 Smart device selection. If I am looking at my phone screen why do I need the notification sounds to play? I'm looking at my screen I've seen the bubble.
Option 2 Always show on both. Which is fine but, both options should be muted.
I will as you suggested with your first reply and helpful screenshot create a routine. I will also follow your other advice and send some developer feedback.

You probably can leave out the parameter for the notification activation and just leave it as when the watch is connected, the notification sounds are off.

Fully agreed, this has been irritating ever since moving to OneUI 8.

The "smart selection" is the closest to being correct, but if I'm wearing the watch, I want notifications to go to the watch and not to the phone, because otherwise it makes a notification noise. With smart selection, when using the phone, notifications will make a noise.

As mentioned, I've made a routine to mute notification sounds only, however that does not fully solve it. Ideally i would want vibrations on the watch even if the phone is unlocked - which is how it worked with the mute option, and i cannot disable vibrations with a routine on the phone. (without going full mute mode)

What this also gets wrong is notifications not routed to the watch - with the "mute on phone" options, I could have some notifications still make a noise and notify on phone if not set to route to the watch. But this way those notifications don't do anything on the watch nor the phone, since all notifications are muted there.

I would LOVE to put in developer feedback, but i can't find a way to do it for the watch. Closest i could find was the chat in members app, where they told me to put in a feedback on the web, where as a reply i was told to use the chat, leaving me on a support loop with no way to contact anyone relevant.

If you have a way to actually reach someone for a feedback, please tell me.

Your watch logs are embedded in the phone logs.  So, when you choose "accessory" as your feedback category and upload your log, they know where to look.  Open the support tab of the members app, scroll to "send feedback", tap the arrow on the lower right, choose "accessory" and in your description of your feedback mention your watch and watch model.  They don't list "watch" as a feedback category, since most accessories connect and log through the Wear app.

I agree with you 100. Since the update is so new, I don't expect the "issue" to be resolved very soon. My solution to it was to simplify mute my phone's notifications. The downside to this is of course that every app that I want to be notified of by "noise" has to be allowed through my watch. So far, it's working for me.

You can create a routine whereby that when the notifications from the app(s) you want to receive "noise" from triggers the volume for the notification to be raised for those notifications only.  The volume will raise for those notifications and go back to mute after the notification is received.
