I don't  know.  My guess is that they licensed it to modify it to be used on more devices and add more colors. Or maybe there is no actual copyright on it. I don't know if Google would allow it in the Play store otherwise.  In any case, if you think there's a copyright infringement, you should be contacting Google so that they can investigate and remove it.  Maybe the company calls itself Galaxy Design because its primary focus is the Galaxy watch.  Maybe they are the official watch designers of Galaxy Watch faces.

Google only lets the trademark or copyright holder report the violation unfortunately. Really shocking that they don't police that more.

It might not be a violation. They could very well be the designer for Galaxy sanctioned watch faces. Anyone can design a watch face for WearOs watches. They can even call them Galaxy watch faces. I don't think they can call them Samsung watch faces, though, and they do not.

It's the exact same design Samsung made available in UI 8 and the developer is using a Gmail address. Highly unlikely it's legit.

Stranger things have happened. The fact that the designer uses a Gmail address means absolutely nothing. I'm sure it's a small business and the email address is either a holdover from being a start up or they don't want to buy a domain and/or manage a mail server. I'd be suspicious of a Hotmail address, though. There is nothing to say that Samsung did not purchase the design from them.

So how can you check instead of wasting my time on speculation? Add value or don't.

It is nice of you to want to protect Samsung's intellectual property, but it is incumbent on you to check.  Samsung has a massive legal team looking out for such things as trademark infringement and copyright issues so, I'd just leave it up to them. 

If it disturbs you that this company is selling their designs in the Play store, don't buy them if you can get it for free from your Wear app.  There any many who like certain watch faces that are only available on certain models of watches for free through the Wear app.  Samsung only offers a limited amount of faces with each model watch (like ringtone selection, they change with each model of phone). Anyone who wants a watch face not offered can look online and find the same or similar faces and buy them if they choose to.

If you do not think my response adds value - delete your post.  Samsung corporate is not going to read your post here, so it has no real purpose or value to being here.  This is a peer-to-peer user help forum.

I do not believe that Samsung designs their own faces, but rather contracts with a designer for a set of faces for use on their watches.  If any design is meant to be an exclusive Samsung design, they pay extra to the designer to not offer it to the public - or they have their programming team create an exclusive.

How about offering up direction on how to contact Samsung directly with potential IP and copyright infringement cases? That would have been super useful and too bad no one from a Giant company like Samsung monitors or mines data on these forums. Lost opportunity to connect with users.
