Is this for real: just set up my S25+, and I only see 3 notification icons at the top left plus a dot, and 4 status icons on the right (speaker, WiFi, signal, battery). When I swipe down, I see I have 7 notifications and 7 status icons. I can NEVER tell if my alarm, Bluetooth, or NFC is ON. What gives Samsung? Will you fix this? I finally retired my beloved S20+, and this is enough for me to dump the S25+ for something that isn't going backwards.

Am I the only one experiencing this? Am I missing something?

Unfortunately, you can't! This was a Google mandate. Maybe Samsung will come up with a Good Lock app to customize this.

Google has decided Live Notifications are more important than having more than 3 notifications at any one time. This should be a user option, not an edict, IMO.

I can live with it because I don't mind pulling down my shade to look at my notifications. I am retentive. I like a clean screen and have my notification area to only show a dot that I have notifications.

I understand, but don't like it. Riding a motorcycle it's nice to know if the priority level of the different notifications. Should I stop or can it wait. Difficult to determine from a dot.

I have different tones for different apps, I know where the notification is coming from the sound my phone makes. If I am wearing buds, the notification is read to me,

How do you get the phone to automatically read the notification?

Why are you looking at your phone while you're riding a motorcycle?

I just bought a new phone and I also don't understand why at least the option wasn't left up to us. There are many reasons to want to see more notifications. If I step away for a moment and come back I can't just glance at it I have to open the entire notification tray.  Or lets say I'm at work and receive a text that I can't reply to, its a quick reminder to respond when you can. You won't know you forgot until you open the tray!

I, and many others, routinely have more than 3 notifications. It kind of defeats the purpose of the notification bar to begin with if you ever have more than 3 notifications since you have to open the tray anyway! **bleep**, with how many emails people receive a day its really only like we have 2 notifications. Definitely seems more like Samsung is trying to copy apple.

If some people like it, fine, but give those who don't and those who have become accustomed to how android handles notifications, the options to not have it that way. Wouldn't even be difficult to code in.

The very fact that you have notification icons showing in the first place would let you know there are notifications in the notification tray, so if you step away and have your icons replaced by new icons, you will still have to pull down the tray to read and act upon any. The little dot tells your there's more than 3.  Honestly, it's not such a hardship to pull down the notification shade, since you have to do it eventually anyway.  Are you aware you can add snooze option to the notification card, so it will remind you later?  You can also turn on repeat notification alerts, which will repeat at an interval you select for apps you select, up to every 15 minutes.  The notification will repeat until you dismiss it.  Settings/notifications/advanced settings

It's an added extra step. Extra steps you do multiple times a day, it definitely makes it a nuisance. Just because it's not that hard doesn't make it not a nuisance, or annoying for that fact. It's removing knowing at a glance what is going on, no matter the subject. I wouldn't have to open the tray because my icons wouldn't be replaced since Its more unlikely I'm getting more than 5 notifications VS 3. Take for example you're waiting on something, anything really and you're in the middle of a conversation with someone. A few notifications come in and now instead of just glancing at my phone to see if it's important to me or not I have to start fiddling with my phone in the middle of a conversation instead of glancing saying "okay that's not important" and moving on. This is just a single example, of the many examples it creates. Why even have a bar if I have to check my tray all the time? Why not just a dot or number like apps do? It's removing my ability to quickly get the info I need.

Take even Amazon for example, if I know a package is coming in but not when and it gets burried because I'm working from home or I walk away then I have to consistently open the tray just to see if to showed up or to clear other notifications. Where as before I could see the little smile in my tray and know it came in. In the winter months that can mean the difference between your package being damaged by the freezing temps. The snoozing is even worse, it's adding ANOTHER step on top of the one already created.

How about just leave the functionality in place and make it optional if they really want to change it. Or better yet, don't change it at all. As someone who builds software, it would be an extremely easy thing for them to do. Just take a look in this thread alone, tons of people have use cases for having more than 3 notifications.
