Try Smartswitch. Install it in your PC, connect the phone and see if you have an update. If it does not, then you need to use Odin to put the latest. It happened to me, my phone was from Canada and somehow, it was jot getting the updates

And you should be on 8.0 - 8.5 has not been released yet, as it's still in beta.  Odin won't help you here.  You do not "get" Odin, it's a mode buried in the recovery settings of your phone and should only be utilized by professionals who know what they are doing.  Using it improperly will brick your device.

Odin is a PC utility used for flashing Samsung firmware. Odin/download mode is how you interface with it on your Samsung phone.
