Galaxy AI Writing Assist — Overly Restrictive Content Filter

I’m using a Samsung Galaxy S25 Plus, and I’ve run into a serious issue with the Galaxy AI Writing Assist feature. The grammar and spelling tool refuses to work whenever it decides my text contains “inappropriate content,” even when the language is harmless or simply part of normal conversation. It displays a message saying it cannot correct spelling because the content appears “inappropriate,” and then stops functioning entirely.

This is creating a frustrating user experience. There is no option to disable this strict filter, and there is no way to switch to Google’s grammar engine or any alternative provider. I should be able to use grammar correction on my phone without the device blocking me based on subjective content rules.

Please provide:

1. A way to disable or adjust this content filter.

2. A clear option to choose a different grammar/AI engine, such as Google’s Gemini writing tools.

3. More transparent control over how Galaxy AI handles text input, especially for adults using their own personal devices.

I use my phone for writing, communication, and social media, and this limitation makes the feature unusable. I hope future updates will give users more control instead of restricting functionality.

Thank you for reviewing this.

Thanks for the detailed explanation. I understand the current limitations, but that’s exactly why this needs to be escalated internally. The issue isn’t about switching keyboards — it’s that Samsung’s AI grammar engine refuses to function whenever it detects “inappropriate” content, even in harmless or adult conversations. That turns a basic writing tool into something that blocks the user instead of helping them.

The device doesn’t offer:

• a way to turn off the content filter
• a way to adjust the filter sensitivity
• a way to use Google’s grammar engine instead
• a way to use Galaxy AI grammar without this restriction

These features should be user-controlled, not hard-wired. I’m hoping Samsung forwards this to the software team, because the current setup makes the tool unusable for many adults who are simply writing normally.

That's a bot you are trying to engage with. You need to send feedback to the development team, although I doubt it will get anywhere I don't believe Samsung programmed it's own AI, rather than licensed on already in existence.

Thanks for the clarification. Bot or not, the issue still affects real users. The problem is happening on the S25 series specifically with Galaxy AI Writing Assist, so whatever engine Samsung is using, the content filter is system-level and can’t be disabled. That’s the part I want the development team to address. Users should have control over these restrictions. I have sent feedback to the developer. I also posted here so people can engage and give feedback to other users. Have a lovely day.

You still have to get the complaint to the developers, and that would br by sending feedback. This is a user to user help forum and the developers don't read it

They could also offer us a choice to revert to what worked perfectly fine before they "updated" us.
I have taken to writing an email first then copy and pasting it into facebook. How advanced does that make my phone look?

You can switch to a brand that will let you revert, (not sure any of them do), but give up your customization options. Everything is a tradeoff for any product you buy.

If a feature is not working the way it used to or the way you think it should, there is a reporting/feedback mechanism.  Utilize it.

My contract is due for renewal in February, it wont be a Samsung.  I want a spell checker not moral guidance.
Incidentally if you swap the Samsung keyboard our for Microsoft SwiftKey in the settings/general management you do get an almost normal spell checker.

You are free to use any keyboard you want. It is not required that you use the Samsung keyboard. I, and many others, use G-Board
