my Samsung Galaxy s25 ultra phone has just in the last week been randomly saying "this print has already been registered please register a different print" even when my phone is in my pocket not being used. I checked for updates and restarted the phone and it's still happening

What happened to your original post?  Did you delete it to create another one?

Really, did you delete any comments, because I could swear I responded with some suggestions earlier.

Edit.  Sorry.  Someone else had a similar issue and I responded to them.  https://us.community.samsung.com/t5/Galaxy-S25/Recurring-message/m-p/3465750#M49841

Dunno if my phone's being attacked/hacked or if I just have some kinda bug. It's a bit worrisome

You can read my suggestions in the post I linked to.    You may not want to reset, but sometimes that's the only option.  You can try clearing the cache partition first.

Do you by any chance have an Eufy security camera installed? We are having the same issue and the message is triggered when someone is detected by the cam system. The specific Samsung can be miles away but the Eufy app triggers this message apparently. No academic solution found as yet but suggestion is to change the notification sound in the Eufy app……

I finally figured it out.  I  realized that I wasn't getting notification alert tone for a couple of my cameras.   I walked outside and stood in front of them and boom, I got the fingerprint message.  I went to another  one and got the message again.   I went to one more and I got a clanging fire alarm.  I checked  my Notification Alert tones and for every camera they had been reset to default.  Once I set them back to the original tones everything was fine.

Unfortunately I'll never get the 2 hours of my life back.  At my age,  each hour is precious.
