Galaxy S25That is certainly your choice, but if RCS is a feature you want, you will not get it in Samsung Messages (or any other messaging app other than Google Messages).

Galaxy S25Other than the carrier supporting it, and your message/chat app supporting it, you can only disable RCS (in other words, to limit a conversation to SMS) for specified contacts.
RCS is automatic as long as...
โช๏ธ Both parties' phones can send and receive RCS.
โช๏ธ Both parties have data service or Internet. In fact, being connected to a Wi-Fi access point will further facilitate RCS.

Galaxy S25Hey, if you don't care about end-to-end encryption of messages (you lived without it all this time), you can stick to Samsung Messages and just text via SMS. Some people will not be able to communicate with you because they don't know to turn on the "resend as SMS" setting, and you will likely not be able to communicate with iPhone users (although, I don't understand why this is an issue, since I have never, ever, NOT been able to send or receive texts to/from iPhone users, although I have ALWAYS used Google Messages).

Galaxy S25That is something you have to take up with Google, as it's their app. You don't *have* to move to Google, only if you want to use RCS, or communicate with iPhone users. Samsung themes will only apply to Samsung apps, not third party apps. Google allows for limited color themes for individual chats.
