Don't take away bootloader unlock function from every Samsung device it is essential for everyone. Give everyone permission to root the device and use custom ROMs.

Too many nefarious actors out there, Google is trying to cut them off.

I get it, but it's truly the end of an era.

Yes, it is. I haven't run a custom rom in a very long time. Not since I started to use Nova Launcher.

I do have a original pixel from 2016, maybe it'll work? It runs android10 (not planning to install it though)

They will be a jump in used devices to be able to jail break them for custom ROMS. Those days are over for me. I have grown up and don't need a compromised device any longer.

I see no issue for it once the device is out of warranty; it is the owner's phone after all. But at the same time, I no reason for Samsung to support updates to rooted devices even if allowed. There is no good reason Samsung should write monthly patches and OS updates to work with rooted devices.

No ones ever expected updates on a root or custom. What we want is our Right after we pay 2k for a phone. An honestly the only reason there doing it is to close there ecosystem like iPhone. Just like Google not announcing framework for the pixal 10. It's a straight jab at graphene os

Yeah it's why pixal will dominate also... because there are alot of us. It is still relevant. An even if you don't mod. You should defend your right to choice!

I would prefer to be able to install my own OS, even if I haven't done so since the iPhone 4S era. It's bad enough I have to agree to a myriad of privacy policies to use the most basic of the phone features, I'd hate to allow the phone manufacturers carte blanche to do whatever they want with their software and terms with a captive userbase.

Then again, I know network carriers, IT admins, software developers, etc. are all free (and likely) to not support any of these customizations. But I still think people should be allowed to.

Same here. Samsung user for more than a decade, have been in the local Samsung VIP programme for quite a time too, spending 5 digits annually on Samsung products (phones, tablets, washing machines, vacuums, ovens, ...) personally and more than 6 digits with my companies. I've always appreciated how straightforward it was to unlock Samsung devices.

If Samsung removes that option, I can't take it in any other way than a betrayal of trust, and I'll stop spending a single penny on Samsung, and I'll give my companies notice to do the same.
