Galaxy S25I do not know the answer to that question because my DND works just the way I set it. The only explanation I can think of would be that somehow social media & email are considered messages, not general notifications. I have multiple instances of DND within modes and routines (each mode or routine can contain DND with different parameters, separate from the global DND). However, I have a question of my own - why change the parameters of DND when you can just turn it off in the instance you describe?

Galaxy S25I see. I suggest turning on caller ID and spam protection (if it's not already on) and block all spam and scam calls (but leave block calls from unknown numbers off). Allow all calls and messages to come through the DND, and you will have to live with the occasional notification from the SM/email apps (or turn them to silent. You can also turn the notification volume down or muted while keeping the phone ringer on). Just so you don't have to change your DND parameters every time you are expecting a morning call, I suggest creating a mode (call it semi-dnd or whatever) and add DND as an action and set that instance of DND to allow all calls and messages through and no apps (although you might want to add emergency alerts if you live in a volatile weather zone). You can also add the volume control to the mode. Or, if you use sleep mode, modify the DND in sleep mode.
