I have version 16.6.00.61 of the pre-installed gallery app. I noticed GPS info displayed in this app does not show address, only the city and state. My Galaxy S21 runs gallery version 15.5.02.4 under One UI 6.0 /Android 14. A picture taken on the S25+ & Quick Shared to my S21 shows the correct GPS with address, city & state on the gallery app on my S21. The gallery app on the S25+ has the address missing from this same picture. I went to BestBuy and confirmed similar behavior with that store's S25+ on display.

I check the GPS info by either the i within a circle, or by the details on the (3) buttons of the top right.

To solve this, I had to download the F-Stop app (version 5.5.141) from the play store. it shows very detailed and correct GPS info on my S25+. This is of course not a critical issue, however, I would like to know if it can be configured to show the address as-is, or was this done on purpose to remove this info?

Please update the gallery App (ad Free) on the S25+. Please let me know your conclusions after your testing. I tried other apps in the play store and many of them had the same issue.

Thank you in advance

That would be because either Google Maps has not integrated the map coordinates with a building address, or you are not at an address.  Also, if you take a photo, let's say in your living room at the front of your house, and one in your bedroom in the back of the house, Google Maps may not know you are still in your house, as Google does not know the physical dimensions of any structure and, apparently, they only use some arbitrary square footage estimate of any given property.  City and state location data is fine with me, but it drives me a little nuts to see map coordinates instead of an actual location.  I get this a lot when I am on a cruise in the middle of the ocean - only map coordinates are available (although sometimes the ship name shows up as the location).

Hi realaud,

Thanks for your reply. Perhaps I was not clear before. The GPS Exif data is populated properly from the Samsung S25+. The reason I know this is because I took several pictures from the S25+ and then transferred those pictures (via QuickShare) to my Samsung S21. Once on the Samsung S21, I was able to see the address which was embedded in the image taken on the S25+.  At the time, I disabled the location data anyway to ensure that the S21 did not populate or change anything..

Furthermore, I explained that when I use a different gallery program (on the S25+) , then I am able to see the address, city and state of the same image I used in my example.

It is not the case that the GPS address is not recorded in the image on the S25+, it is that the gallery is not displaying that information fully.

I realize this sounds like something many might have heard before, however, I have at least 3 different smartphones including an app called GPS Coordinates that shows the S25+ is capturing the proper GPS location data. GPS Coordinates app can evan take a picture with the meta data overlayed onto the screen.

Is there any way Samsung can take a look at this. At least verify what I am saying?

Thanks
