I am experiencing a wifi latency issue on my s24 ultra again now that one ui 7 stable has been released. When connected to my wifi network, ping times from a local device to my phone or my phone to a local device is 80-200ms. However, ping times between laptops and other wireless devices is normal at less than 10ms.

I noticed that if I turn on the packet logging through intelligent wifi, the latency on my phone goes back to normal at less than 10ms. However, leaving packet logging on all the time isn't really a fix. When I copied the packet log to my internal storage and then inspected it through Wireshark on my computer, I saw that it was showing a bunch of malformed packets for management frames. Performing the same packet capture on a laptop shows the management frames as normal. So only my s24 ultra appears to be misinterpreting these management frames. With there being a large excess, I am wondering if this is what is causing the issues.

Anyone else experiencing wifi latency on one ui 7?

Any time I have latency on any device I disconnect "forget" the connection then sign in again. Should that not work you can always press and hold the power button along with volume down until the device restarts as that's a widely used way to "soft reset" the device which clears out cache and random issues. The last option is to find the option to Reset Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connections which is typically within SETTINGS - General Management - Reset - then you can choose your network (I do this maybe once a month) which is your cell provider, Wi-Fi/Bluetooth BUT be aware that if you do reset the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth then you will have to sign in to every WiFi and reconnect any Bluetooth but it's always fixed latency issues. Also don't forget to restart your Wi-Fi and the phone.
**Use with caution** you can always look up the hidden menu for your phone and follow the directions or watch on YouTube but it'll give you codes to type in on the phone dialer which is not advised if you're not tech savvy but it sounds like you are.
Have you tried getting into the developer options and messed around with Wi-Fi scanning, throttling, etc?

I don't think it's going to be an issue with the wifi network being remembered. Based on the packet capture, it appears to be with how the phone itself is processing 802.11 management frames. Being that it is showing malformed packets, but other devices are not, I think the wifi drivers might not be coded properly to handle the correct 802.11 specifications for some of the more advanced networks.

Your phone is newer than mine - S23 FE - and I have Google fiber WiFi 6e and I can get speeds on upper 900s if not over a gig so yours should be better than mine. I'd download this app called Net Analyzer (it's free) and that can do a ton of helpful stuff. Have you tried changing your DNS servers? Also, my phone has Intelligent Wi-Fi option and if you click on it maybe 5 times it'll give you an option for Connectivity Labs which has helped diagnose problems as well but I'm not sure if your phone has it

It's not a DNS issue because this issue is experienced at a layer 3 level with pings and trace routes. DNS operates at layer 7 of the osi model. It's also measuring latency in the internal network. Not external, so ISP and external network speeds have no impact on this situation. Also the management frames of 802.12 operate on layer 2 of the OSI model and would impact the rest of the stack if this is what is truly causing this issue.

That's WAY over my head so it sounds like I'm offering advice to an expert, which I'm far from. Well, I hope you get it figured out

Yeah, if what I am describing is the issue, then it's like an 8/10 in terms of technical knowledge and understanding of wifi and the 802.11 specifications.

You've probably tried this stuff but this YouTube video is addressing your exact issue which I saw is common

I wouldn't necessarily say it is my exact issue. My wifi is very stable in terms of connectivity. The only issue appears to be latency. It also does appear to be affecting my bandwidth, but again if the device is forced to constantly process malformed packets that are occurring at a rapid rate, it could definitely have an impact on upstream bandwidth.

Someone on the Samsung website forum did the reset Wi-Fi connection I mentioned and they claim it worked but if none of these work I'm out of ideas. Guess it could be an app, boot in safe mode or scan the Wi-Fi usage and see if one is constantly using it or crashing
