I am unable to use by wired c type earphone continuously while switching apps. It needs to be plugged out and plugged in each & every time for the audio to hear through the earphones, otherwise the audio will be through the speakers. This is the case for audio files in the device as well. Once you play an audio, pause and go out of the app, come back and play it again, it plays through the speakers. Only when you plug out and plug in again it will help to get back to the wired earphones.

I realize how frustrating it has to be to constantly connect your headphones. Have you tested these different applications, or is this happening with specific apps? Could you make sure your phone and the apps are up to date? Have you attempted clearing the cache? To do this, Open Settings and tap Apps. Next, select or search for the app you want to clear. Tap Storage and Tap Clear cache.
These are basic troubleshooting steps. If they don't work.; Try these steps using the link below.

Thanks for the response, but note that users in this thread are reporting the issue for various different apps, 100% of the time - and this is for wired headphones, not bluetooth.

Same here for wired earphones, S 24 Ultra keeps defaulting to speakers constantly, no matter the app.  Impossible. What could be done to fix it? Getting a tablet from a different maker with a regular headphone audio jack to work around this. Note 8 was perfect in that regard, why the change?..

Same here. Just got the S24 Ultra last week and it just disconnects the type C earphones and goes to speakers randomly between app switches or screen off or between ads - happens on Netflix, VLC, YouTube. Quite embarrassing when you're on a night flight and heavy metal starts bursting out your speakers 😂

Only fix so far is to pull them out and reconnect which is irritating to do every few minutes.

I have the same problem.
When I plug my C earbuds in, it defaults to the speaker. I have to have the earbuds plugged in, and then restart the phone. Then it works.

Same issue.  Need to unplug and replug usb wired earbuds. Swipe down will display either phone or headset but will not toggle back and forth.

Hello all, thanks for reaching out. In addition to what @S24guy posted, you can try running a diagnostic using the Members app. Consult this guide on how to do so, complete with a video: https://www.samsung.com/uk/support/mobile-devices/how-to-use-samsung-members-diagnostics/

Also, make sure you are using compatible and official cords for these connections.

The last thing to try is Safe mode, to ensure a third-party app is not interfering with the functionality. Safe mode guide is here: https://www.samsung.com/us/support/answer/ANS00062983/
If it behaves in Safe mode, then uninstall apps until functionality of the headphones is restored.

If the troubleshooting is not helpful, the phone will need to be evaluated by a certified technician.
