I use this simple analogy, it's just like buying a brand new car. You go to the dealer, you fall in love with a particular model, you do all the paperwork, you buy the car, you drive off the lot, and suddenly you lose 20% of value because now it's a "used" car! However, it's still a car, it still gets you to where you're going, the air conditioning probably still works, so does the heater. The only thing different is that it's a year older than the newest model which is getting all the love and attention.
