Get rid of star icon when selecting?

I'm having issues when selecting and I think it's due to the AI even though I never turned it on (never even accepted the terms and conditions) and have it set to process only on this device.

I try to select one word and get several or the whole sentence. When I select or try to copy and paste, there's a star icon that I accidentally keep tapping and tries to get me to use Writing Assistant AI which I don't want. It wasn't like this prior to the AI update.

Do I have to accept the TOS just to turn this off? I'm sick of AI. I'd brick my phone just to disable it.

Do you mean the icon to the left of the options in my screenshot? It's not in the way for me, and I haven't opted in to any AI features, so I'm not exactly sure what you mean.

Yeah that's what I mean. By in the way I mean that I keep tapping it on accident, poor wording on my part. I'm not opted into anything either.

This may or may not help, but you can move the options bar away from the selected text. Just hold & drag it.

That's the Gemini icon - it shows up as an option for writing assist or to summarize the selection.  If you mean it is in your way because the bar comes up, that's the bar that's in the way, not the Gemini icon.  In any case, the bar should not be in your way either, as it is supposed to situate itself above the selected text.  If the bar itself is in your way, clear the phone cache. If you disable Gemini or turn it off, you shouldn't see it.  I turned Gemini off on my phone and it does not come up on the bar.  If you don't use Gemini, you can disable it by going to settings/apps/Gemini and hitting "disable".

That icon is for Galaxy AI, not Gemini. Writing Assist is one of the Galaxy AI tools. I also have Gemini disabled on my phone and that icon still shows up with the text select options, as you can see.

I don't have a Gemini app, and searching it in settings just brings up stuff that tries to get me to log into Google. The star icon brings me to samsung's writing AI so I don't think its Gemini. Thank you though.

Turn off in settings the gemini folder a clear cache will do nothing to fix it
