You can significantly limit the spam calls you get by enabling spam protection in your Dialer settings. You carrier may or may not offer additional protection as well.

The best method for reducing these kinds of calls is to never, ever answer a phone call from a number that is not in your contacts, even if you think it may be someone actually trying to reach you. When you answer the call, spammers/scammers know they have hit a live number and will continue to call from different numbers.

If someone truly needs to reach you, they will almost always leave a voicemail.1760801336696.jpg

This is sound advice. I never answer a call that is not in my contacts or doesn't have caller ID. My voicemail message states if you are not in my contacts and you need a callback leave a message, if you don't leave a message, I will not callback.

After years of this I rarely get spam calls.

It's worse than that. If they get a positive hit they will often sell your number to other companies, which multiplies the number of spam calls you'll be getting.
