I thought there were phasing out and going to get rid of Samsung Messages App but I just saw how the app was getting so many new features with the UI 8.5 software update. ???? So it is staying now?

RCS functionality in samsung messages depends on if your carrier supports it. Like I said, MOST carriers do NOT support RCS. RCS functionality in Samsung messages is through the carrier and has nothing to do with Samsung.

Samsung messages is staying for now, but if you want to use RCS, then you would need to use google messages. Most carriers now do NOT support RCS in samsung messages. Some users still prefer Samsung messages for customization.
