You have an eSIM, right? There should also be a physical SIM slot. The prepaid Verizon SIM might be a good choice for you. Buy it once and leave it in the slot. You don't need to have active service to get the updates. You can make the physical slot your primary SIM and stay on WiFi when you have to download an update.

If its Verizon. Then download Verizon app. Choose free trial. Use esim. There you go. No need to find someone or prepaid. This would allow you to have a verizon esim and number so you can update you software.

That would work once, not for subsequent updates.

I believe this was fixed after he updates to 15. This wasnt just a verizon issue as this suppose problem was fixed. I did this for my other phone z fold (verizon) and my s23 ultra for (att) neither hasn't had to have a Sim since.

There was an issue where some people who had unlocked phone had went to other carriers and not getting updates. There were a few work around but I believe they fixed this issue with updates after 15 because I myself haven't had this problem since.

That's not a bug to be fixed with a software update. It has to do with carrier-locked phones not being properly unlocked and then being resold to people who use a SIM from a different carrier than the device's firmware.

When the trial is over the esim gets turned off, no more updates.

That's what I meant when I said it wouldn't work for subsequent updates.
