Security update time...

S23 Ultra. AT&T. Just got the security update installed.

Ok. Now a weird one. After the download i clear the cache as usual. After rebooting my text message app is still running in the background. (Goggle messages) Reboot again. Still running. Can't stop it. Uhhhh. I don't think it use to act that way.

That's a bit odd. Are you swiping it away from recents or force stopping the app? What happens if you clear all your recent apps?

Swipe up from recent, keeps running.
Settings > apps > messages > force stop = nothing. Still running.
Reboot > still running
Clear cache again > Reboot> still running
Clear all recent apps > nothing happens.

That's really strange. Can't say I've ever run into that before. Is the app behaving ok otherwise?

Tested sending message to my wife. She got it, answered and I got the answer. I tried sending one to myself. Nothing happened.
I rebooted in safe mode, same problem. I use Nova launcher, turned it off, UI running. Still stuck. Force close, nothing.
I have a package coming in via FedEx. Went online earlier and setup text notifications for status. After this started I cleared all those out. Still stuck
I'm not sure if this started with the FedEx or the update. I can go to the recent button and hit close all. Everything closes except for messages.

Just a WAG, but maybe try resetting mobile network settings?
