How to get a Search bar off my home screen?

How do I get a search bar off my home screen that is at the bottom of my screen. It is grayed out and it will not let me move up or down.

Touch and hold on it. There should be an option to remove it.

Do you have your home screen locked to prevent accidental changes? Go to settings/home screen and make sure the slider for "lock home screen layout" is off.  Also, can you provide a screen shot?

Thanks for all the help. I went to the play store and found the app I accidentally put on my phone and was able to uninstall from there. Now my phone is back the way it was before. Again thanks for all the help.
