Message app worked fine for months, then stopped notifications for new texts.

In the app settings, under notifications, I recall seeing a setting for "alerts", that setting is not there anymore. Notifications are enabled, all contacts are enabled for notifying.

Instead of reinstall i tried to delete data. I did not lose any messages but now it works as before
