I am trying to set specific sounds for each individual app, i.e. different sound for  snapchat, Facebook, and instagram. On my note 10+, each app previously mentioned had their own notification sounds by default, now they only have the same default notification  sounds. How do I change this? I have looked everywhere to no avail.

Please help. Thank you!!!

There is a very important detail that many people overlook in setting a custom Notification sound for an app.

And it's understandable, because it's not obvious. Follow along with my example including screenshots. Let's use Gallery app as an example

Open Settings app

Tap Apps

Tap Gallery

Tap Notifications

Be sure "Show Notifications" is enabled ... check screenshot

Next, Tap on Notification Categories

Let's set a custom sound for "Empty Trash" , so be sure that option is enabled. see screenshot

Now, and here's the important part, because it's not obvious ...

Tap on the LEFT SIDE of the "Empty Trash" option ... tap on the word "empty", as shown in screenshot

You are now at the Detail screen for the Empty Trash notification

Now, to customize the sound for this Empty Trash notification category ...

Tap Sound (screenshot)

You are now at the Sound list ... here you would choose a custom sound
(screenshot)

After you choose a sound, use Back gesture button to exit out

So now you are armed with the knowledge required to customize the Notification sound for any app šŸ‘

Go to app permissions and change the allert settings, or you can go to the allert settings in Notifications.

I used to be able to have different notification sounds for each of my contacts. I can't figure out how to do that. Any tips?

I'm using a Note 10+ with OneUI 4.0 and my menu is different from that which I find strange since a friend has a Nokia which is the same as mine except I have many more categories than her.

OMG that was more difficult that it needed to be.  Is that because of the Android version, or because of Samsung?
