Galaxy S22I’m using a Galaxy S22+ and recently I noticed a weird issue.
When I record gameplay using the built-in screen recorder, black flickering squares appear on the screen, especially when the character moves or the screen changes fast.
The same thing also shows up in the recorded video.
I tried using other apps like AZ Recorder and XRecorder, but it still happens.
Does anyone know what causes this or how to fix it?
Thanks!

Galaxy S22No, it doesn’t happen with the camera.
It doesn’t happen when I just play the game normally either.
It only happens when I record the screen while playing games — not when using the regular camera app.

Galaxy S22Hello qthc17, welcome to the Samsung Community! I understand your frustrations with your device showing black flickering squares on screen while trying to record. In some indoor environments you may notice a flickering black line while recording a video with Super Steady mode or a short shutter speed in Pro video mode. This is caused by the indoor lighting and is not an indication of an issue with the phone.
Modern lighting frequently uses fluorescent or LED based bulbs actually flicker on and off very quickly. This happens so quickly, the human eye perceives it as a steady light. When a camera, such as the one on your Galaxy device, uses a shutter speed that is faster than this flicker, it may appear that the image is flickering, or it may appear as a black bar that travels across the image.
To eliminate this artifact, try the following:
Add more light to the scene
Disable Super Steady (Super Steady mode uses a very fast shutter speed)
If you are using Pro Video, you will likely see this phenomenon begin at speeds faster than 1/125. Adjust the shutter speed slower until the artifact disappears
Also clear the cache in your camera app: settings, app, camera app, clear cache
Adjust your Display Settings: Settings, Display, turn off Dark Mode or Night Mode, turn off the switch next to Adaptive Brightness and use the slide brightness bar to make the screen brighter, tap motion smoothness and then Standard
If you are still having issues I would recommend performing a factory data reset, please be sure to back up your device before performing the reset: https://www.samsung.com/us/support/answer/ANS10002030
Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Galaxy S22Hi, I think there’s a misunderstanding.
I’m not talking about recording with the camera — my issue happens when SCREEN RECORDING while playing games.
The black flickering squares appear in the screen recording, not when using the camera app.
I even attached screenshots to show what I mean.

Galaxy S22Hello qthc17, the troubleshooting steps provided will assist you with the issue that you are having. You can try the screen recording feature in Safe Mode to verify that it isn't just the third party app causing an issue. Here is a link with steps to enable Safe Mode on your device: https://www.samsung.com/us/support/answer/ANS10003495. If it is just one specific game that is causing the issue then we recommend that you reach out to the app developer.
