I have a Samsung S21 that came out in 2022, but Samsung won't allow me to upgrade it to Android 15 or 16. A 3 year old phone. Apparently the S22 and the s23 can't upgrade past Android 14 either. FairPhones and Apple phones are upgradable for 7-8 years. I've been a Samsung customer for at least 10 years. I will never buy a Samsung again.

It's amazing to me that people buy a phone and expect updates forever.  For most people, at the time they purchased their older phones, the 3 years of updates were enough because many people traded up after 2 years anyway, as people with carrier locked phones usually got a "free" upgrade to lock them into the carrier for another 2 years.  As phones got more expensive, and more people started buying unlocked, people started holding onto them longer and demanded more years of updates for the price they were paying, which was a reasonable demand.

Apparently they're rolling it out to newer phones first. I'm glad you got yours.
