Not asking for the official answer. How do I hack this thing to get back to good quality pictures. I don't care about warranty or any of that. I mistakenly went from onesie 4.1 to the current and was slapped with the biggest camera nerf in history. I now have a potato quality camera when just before "upgrading" the camera was stunning quality. Also what one ui version was the best for pictures. I don't wanna carry a tablet in my pocket anymore so the other stuff doesn't matter just picture quality which is best oneui?

I never upgraded past oneui 4.1 or android 12 on this s21 ultra, until yesterday as this was an extra phone. I realized Samsung slow boiled us with constant camera nerfs. The quality between 4.1 and the current was crazy. My camera went from stunning to potato quality in one "upgrade" session. By the way the camera quality is worse. The wide angle is no longer wide angle. The night pictures no longer work. I can't even access 2 of the 4 cameras without using pro mode and they are still low quality non wide angle trash. This 1200 phone isn't worth 300. If this phone took pictures that looked like this at launch LG phone users would be laughing at us.

This phone at present shoots about as good as a flip phone. Hope the people considering dropping 1200 on a new Samsung ultra realize that they will be upgraded back down to potato quality camera in a few years once Samsung wants you to upgrade

I would recommend searching for a camera app alternative rather than rooting your phone. Rooting can be a good thing if you know what you're doing. Unfortunately, Samsung states you cannot downgrade the ui once installed for "security reasons". Try turning off the photo "optimization" settings. This will only affect photos not videos, though. One other recommendation, try changing the camera quality in the camera app. Depending on your firmware, your camera should have a button that say ##M. Mine says 12M normally and can be tapped to change it to 50M. If you download "Camera assistant", a GoodLock module, you can enable "prioritize focus over speed". Hope this helps.
