The scientific calculator functions automatically put the calculator into landscape mode, depending on which OS/UI you are on.  In OneUI 8.0, the scientific calculator now remains in portrait mode, and will still rotate to landscape if you want it to.  The calculator version is 12.5.00.20.  I don't believe that version is available for OneUI5. So if you want it "fixed", you will need to upgrade to a phone running OneUI8.

Didn't see that. Then there is no way to change it. It's hard coded into that version of the calculator. Unless the newest version of the calculator is available for download to his device, he's out of luck. Even if it is, it may be a function of the UI that integrates into the calculator to make the new programming work.

I love the "needs to fixed". It's been that way forever on any phone I've ever had. Scientific calculator always in landscape mode because of the extra math symbols.
