Dex - please don't get rid of wired monitor option

I have been using my phone as a PC for years now with Dex. It's brilliant. I put my phone in it's dock and into a monitor and off I go. Now I can't. Why would they change the software to not allow this feature anymore? 

It is such a good system! Now when I put my phone in the dock it doesn't charge the phone (multiple working cables used and working plugs. Even a HDMI to USBC doesn't work anymore. So I can do my work and watch films and youtube etc but then my battery dies.

Does anyone know if there is a third party app I can use.

Honestly Samsung. All you had to do was leave the wired DEX software untouched. I never cast or wireless link because all I have is a monitor.

@Badjamin What device are you using? 

DEX is working just fine for me using a powered dock between the phone and monitor.

Really odd. As I don't recall an update happening this week. Every time I try to make it work the phone needs to be restarted before it will charge again...

I think that you may have a dock or cable failure.

May I ask what dock you have please?

I just use an inexpensive Totu powered USB hub. Connects to the phone via USB C.

Yeah I think I will have to go to a repair shop and see about a replacement charger port on my phone perhaps. Or a £40 diagnostic...

It's weird as I have several cables and plugs and now two docks (a dock and a hub)

My concern is it may be the phone socket but it looks clean and clear
