Just another post trying to rally people behind supporting a samsung .essages comeback because of the better UI consistency and layout.

I'm tired of samsung forced to roll with google messages for whatever reason, but im hoping they are developing it and not letting it die out. Its still active in other countries so I know it's an option but they would have to figure iut the details to have RCS back for everyone

I still have Samsung messages, make sure it is in your Samsung group on your phone and activate it. You just to set it a default.

But I did notice every time I get a new phone and load it it defaults to Google messages and I have to change it. But I'm running my S25+ and using Samsung.

I have the app and option to use it as well. The only thing keeping me on Google messages are the RCS features. If I switched, id get back in the boat of the usual "someone's got an android" in group chats. Also, I send too many videos and pictures that rely on RCS to go back to samsung messages ☹️

Im sure its some business thing that they have with Google to use their apps since samsung is relying on Gemini and more AI features from them but thats just my conspiracy 😅

This is largely an issue of infrastructure.

Yes, Samsung Messages has more features and supports RCS in other countries, but those countries are not the US.

America is MASSIVE by comparison to most other countries, and US carriers have largely chosen not to build and/or maintain their own RCS infrastructure across this huge land mass.

Most carriers have transitioned to Google's version of RCS because it runs through Google's servers, tends to be more compatible with iOS, and doesn't require the carrier to build and maintain their own RCS infrastructure.

On top of that, Samsung is partnering with Google more closely than ever before, to the point where Google often uses Samsung devices to demo new features rather than Pixels. Making GMessages the default on Samsung devices is not only an act of good will that bolsters this partnership, it's also a win for consumers who get an awesome, feature packed messaging app.

Samsung has been very gracious to not immediately discontinue SMessages for users like you who are accustomed to the app. However, both Samsung and Google have publicly stated the GMessages is the platform of choice to encourage and achieve mass RCS adoption.

Google could careless who and what you are texting. Google messages with RCS enable is end to end encryption. Samsung messages is not.

If you don't like Google, get an Iphone or simple get a flip phone!

Google takes A LOT of info from android devices if you think about it. Try setting up a new android device without using a Google or any account and option out of all the data sharing to see what I mean. I dont care so im in deep, but I get why people dont like it. Iphones have a similar thing g too. They require you to connect most if not everything to your apple ID and accessing that is almost only available on apple devices which SUCKS. Apple is really dull and over simplified so im not going back anytime soon.

RCS on googe messages works between people who use Google messages, not between google messages and iphones. I am a lone wolf in that case with everyone around me using iphone so the only encrypted chats are between my cousin and I.

We can not like something and advocate for the developers to make it better too, why should we have to leave to want it to be improved?

Totally makes sense, but samsung messages had RCS deatures before. Back when I had my S21, I used it all the time until they cut it out for whatever reason. I was on verizon but the features worked for all my messages so its possible, right?

Carriers who had existing RCS infrastructure, including Verizon, are transitioning to the Google infrastructure so they dont need to maintain it themselves. So, no, unfortunately.
