I have a note 9. I checked the compatible devices with the Samsung wallet app and my phone is there but everytime I try to install it it says that my phone isn't. What's the issue???

I'm thinking the information you saw that your phone is compatible with Samsung wallet was when it was originally released back in 2018. However, this is 2025 and your phone has not received any updates since August of 2022, more than 3 years ago. Meaning, the Samsung Wallet app has probably been updated several times since the most recent update on your phone, making it currently uncompatible. Why would you even consider trying to load an app that has access to your personal finance information on your phone that hasn't been updated in 3 years which means it's wide open to the world of hackers and other bad actors? I have noticed that if the app was already installed before the new update, which is incompatible with the old phone, the old version app is unusable as it normally cannot connect to Samsung's servers for that app. Also, I believe that the actual, complete card information is only on the servers. You can't even use the cards for payments (again the server access). The best a hacker can get is what type of cards on the app, and the last few purchase summaries.

The site was up to date as it had the newest released version of phones, so I don't think it's old.

I didn't know it was incompatible hence why I'm asking ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™

Most financial apps will cease to work or be unable to be installed on insecure devices. Devices that have OSs more than 3 versions behind are considered outdated and insecure. In the case of Samsung Wallet, many changes have taken place as they grow, and the new iteration of the app will only work with (likely) Android 13 and above.

Are there any alternatives, then? I know about Google wallet, but I don't really trust Google much.

And, yet you have a phone with a Google owned operating system. PayPal wallet has entered the field, but it not yet universally accepted.  There is absolutely no reason not to trust Google Wallet.  If there were reasons, there would be horror stories all over the internet.  Be aware, though, that Google Wallet or PayPal may not work if your system is deemed insecure.  I'd sooner be afraid of a breach of your system than of Google's.  All financial apps do a security check of your system prior to allowing installation.  Google Wallet may already be installed on your system, as it's a Google product and you have an Android phone, which is also a Google product.
