I can not figure out how to keep me screen from going black when I'm on a phone call. I use speaker when on calls. I it is hard to answer q's ppl ask me bc the screen goes black and I have to wake it up every 30 seconds. I would like it to stay awake during phone calls.
So frustrating.
Thank you in advance,

I am unsure of what specific options are available to you because you are using a discontinued device that is unable to update to the current Android/One UI version, but you could try using Modes & Routines to create a routine to extend the screen timeout during a call.1770233559753.jpg

@RiverDweller Sorry but the short answer is you can't prevent it. This has been a "feature" of Samsung phones for years. There are many posts in the discussion area about this topic.

If you are running OneUI8.0 and have Good Lock installed, download the Display assistant module.  If you don't have Good Lock installed, what are you waiting for, download both. You can set the phone to trigger the screen to stay on for 10 minutes (I've heard this may not work on every phone model, but that was when it was first introduced) and you can add a toggle to the quick panel to keep your screen on for 30 minutes.  Both options work perfectly for me.  The 30 minute screen on is especially useful in other apps besides the phone.  I don't understand why you can't answer people's questions while the screen is dark, unless you mean you have to press the keypad to navigate the voice menu.

Thank you, I have the built in 10 minute stay on selected but, I can't even make it through a push button purgatory phone call without pushing my power button between choices I'm given. I can't answer questions when a human tries to help me figure out why their companies app won't let me get to my account when it works fine, till I need it. Bing, screen goes black, very frustration.
Would you by any chance know if there is a problem opening the SD card slot? I keep my phone clean and don't see anything around the opening or hole. I still have the... key but nothing at all happens.
Thank you all, I might consider a new phone, getting old now technology sure has passed dos and code!

The built in 10 minute time out does not affect the phone app at all. You must use Display assistant to make the screen stay on for 10 minutes during a call (that's one of the reasons it was developed) Select both phone and call to stay on for 10 minutes (and any other app where you don't want the screen to turn off). Also, the toggle to keep the screen on for 30 minutes is a godsend.

As for the SD card tray, do not be afraid to push the key in hard. Ther should be a good deal of resistance. You will not damage anything by exerting pressure.

Display assistant isn't available for that version. Too bad. I'd upgrade just for that
