I'm using "text shortcuts" but it doesn't work on most apps and browsers.

Maybe it not designed to support it. Not everything can do the same tricks your phone or watch can do. What type phone and what apps aren't supporting the shortcuts?

Hi @Duyv!  Thank you for reaching out to the community. Could you provide us with some additional details?  Which shortcuts are you attempting to use?  Could you provide us with the model of your phone?  The more details that you can provide, the better.

I'm using a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7. For example, when I type (ty = thank you), some apps like Samsung Notes, Google Messages, and Messenger automatically change "ty" to "Thank you," but Samsung Internet, Chrome, and Google Keep don't do it automatically. I have to use the device's keyboard.

@Duyv, this happens because text shortcuts only auto‑expand in apps that allow full keyboard (IME) control. Messaging and note apps usually use standard Android text fields, so the keyboard can replace shortcuts automatically. Web browsers and some note apps use web‑based or custom text fields for security and consistency (especially for search bars, forms, and URLs), which prevents automatic replacement—so the keyboard can only show the expanded text as a suggestion that you tap manually. Hope this helps!

there any setting on my keyboard itself that I can enable to make text shortcuts auto-expand everywhere? If it's possible to turn this feature on, please let me know how.

@Duyv, You can enable text shortcut auto‑expansion using Samsung Keyboard. This feature works across most apps and is controlled by the keyboard settings, not the device hardware.

Open Settings
Tap General management
Tap Samsung Keyboard settings
Tap Text shortcuts
Turn Text shortcuts ON
Tap Add, then enter your shortcut and expanded phrase, and save

The shortcut will expand after pressing space or punctuation.
This should work in Chrome, Samsung Internet, Google Keep, and most standard text fields. It will not work in password or secure fields.
Make sure Samsung Keyboard is set as the default keyboard under Settings > General management > Keyboard list and default.
Hope this helps.

Samsung Text Shortcuts only work with Samsung Keyboard. They won’t work in apps or browsers using other keyboards. To use them everywhere, switch to Samsung Keyboard or try a third-party text expansion app like Texpand or SwiftKey.
