It should be known that using smart switch from an iphone - not sure if this applies to samsung to samsung upgrades as well - none of the photos will be indexed and searchable. I have over 5k photos and videos from my iphone that now on samsung it's impossible for me to quickly find something.
however.. i have also taken a picture of what is very clearly my dog in recent days on the new phone and photos cant find it. So cant say for certain this is smartswitch issue or a OneUI 8 issue
It's definitely the SmartSwitch issue as the iPhone masks the meta-data of every photo/video for security reasons. Thus the problem. I had this issue too.
But, very recently one of my friends was able get everything intact when he switched to S25 Ultra from his iPhone 15 but he just moved the Whatsapp data and never bothered about other media. He had them all backed-up to his Google Photos.
It worked for him, should work for everyone I think.
