SAMSUNG seems to be in the business of removing origional features rather than improving them. Insted, they creat watered-down versions of Applefeatures, like the "Now Bar"- a less functional and premature take on Appleā€™s Dynamic Island.

Key features like the edge pannel orvthe ability to use Dex in Windowed Mode have been removed. In contrast, Apple maintains its features and often improves by borrowing ideas from Samsung.

One of the main reasons I choose Samsung was for its unique features, such as Secure Folder and DeX which I use daily. If those unique features become limited or disappear, then what differentiates a Samsung device from Apple's restrictive ecosystem?

Functionality matters most to me. The design, widgets, and apps on Android phones have always been customizable, which is a significant advantage.

This time, aside from useful AI features like grammar and spelling checks- which are more convenient than Apple's- the update didn't introduce anything that sets Samsung's flagship apart from the iPhone. Instead, it removed notable features that could have been kept.

Dear Samsung: its a shame!

Edge panels aren't going away and Dex is only being killed on the windows app. Dex can still be used when directly connected to a display and default edge panels are still here.

Letā€™s be real your comment is overly dramatic and dismissive. Samsung has consistently been at the forefront of innovation, introducing features like Secure Folder, DeX, and advanced multitasking years before Apple even thought about them. To claim theyā€™re just making ā€œwatered-down versions of Apple featuresā€ shows a lack of perspective. Apple has spent years playing catch-up with Samsungā€™s innovations, not the other way around.

Yes, recent changes like removing the edge panel and limiting DeX are frustrating, but writing them off entirely as if Samsung doesnā€™t lead the charge in functionality and customization is ridiculous. If Samsungā€™s features ā€œdisappear,ā€ as you claim, itā€™s because people like you donā€™t provide constructive feedbackā€”you just complain.

If youā€™re that unhappy, maybe the restrictive Apple ecosystem is a better fit for you. But if you want Samsung to remain the powerhouse of innovation itā€™s always been, stop whining and give feedback that actually helps them improve.

What? It was the windows version of Dex that got discontinued not on the phone....? And secure folder works just fine? They gave more customization specifically to widgets and apps appearance in one UI 7. idk what you're on about lol you could also use the beta feedback and tell them not us.Screenshot_20241214_163159_Samsung Members_1000227155_1734219119.png

I appreciate your perspective, but I think you misunderstood the core of my argument. Iā€™m not dismissing Samsungā€™s history of innovation ā€” in fact, thatā€™s exactly why Iā€™m frustrated. Iā€™ve been a loyal Samsung user precisely because of unique features like Secure Folder, DeX, and Edge Panel among other things that set them apart from the competition.

Iā€™ve been using iPhones since 2007 when the first one was released, and Iā€™ve also used Android devices since 2011. While Iā€™m familiar with both ecosystems, I am an Android user and my main phone is a Samsung because of its functionality and unique features. My frustration comes from a place of wanting Samsung to keep these distinguishing features rather than removing or limiting them.

When I mentioned ā€œwatered-down versions of Apple featuresā€ like the Now Bar, I wasnā€™t dismissing Samsung's innovation. I was pointing out that Samsung seems to be imitating Apple instead of enhancing their own strengths. Recent removals, like windowed DeX mode and the Edge Panel, feel like a step backward, especially when Apple maintains and refines their features over time.

I also want to point out that your tone came off as unnecessarily rude and dismissive. Suggesting that I should switch to Apple or accusing me of whining isnā€™t helpful. My feedback is constructive because I care about Samsung continuing to innovate and succeed. Loyal users should be able to voice their concerns without being told to leave the ecosystem.

At the end of the day, Iā€™m offering this critique because I want Samsung to keep improving and stay ahead, rather than losing the unique features that made me choose them in the first place.

Should've worded your actual post like this then. Because none of those features are disappearing. Instead of providing an actual critique you chose to come off as complaining. You can loyally submit the feedback to Samsung nonstop in the beta feedback if you feel this strongly.

I agree. Samsung is paying too much attention to what Apple is doing. The Now Bar was unnecessary and, if Samsung decided to keep it, should be positioned under the lock screen for easier access and a better look.
