Bingo. I've owned my fair share of budget phones and midrangers over the years through various financial situations.

Never felt the need to complain that my $199 phones didnt get the same software support and features as $999 phones.

The issue comes in when people buy the budget phones without looking at the specs and making sure it does what they want it to do and then complain that it doesn't.  The A1x line is not going the have the features that the A5x line does and none of them are going to have the features of any S line.  But they are quite nice phones if you a) know what features you want (or don't), b) purchase knowingly and, c) accept the limitations of what you purchased.  Many people do none of the above.  They go buy a Samsung expecting it to have all Samsung features.  Most manufacturers do not have 4/5 lines of phones, and even those that have multiple lines, have one model in each line.  So, if Samsung is not perfect, at least they have something for everyone.

Beyond the lack of research, the current lineup is massive, which is great for consumer choice, but can be overwhelming for the average user who isn't plugged in to the tech scene.

The increased uniformity in Samsung's design language (Budget, Midrange, and Flagship all closely resembling each other,) could factor into user confusion as well.

I personally would like to see the introduction of some kind of "Spec Nutrition Labels" that simplify what a device can and can't do into easily digestible images, similar to the EU energy efficiency/repairability labels.

I can't tell you how thoroughly I went through every single spec and capability I could find when landing on the A54. It did everything I wanted it to do, none of the things I didn't want at a price I wanted to pay. I do not regret my choice and haven't missed any of the features I don't have. It performs well, and the camera is excellent.

I do completely believe, though, that many people go and buy Samsung thinking every Samsung has all the same features without considering why the price points are different. They probably use Apple as their model. Doesn't Apple only have one model at a time? Hence, no real research.

A series are still excellent phones. It's hard to buy a truly bad phone in 2025... tech has progressed so much.

I just wish the info were more digestible for folks whose only interactions with Spec sheets happen biennially in carrier stores.

See my edited comment above.  We can't help if consumers prefer to be uninformed.  I have a feeling no matter how much one breaks it down for a lot of people, the mentality is "It's a Samsung, it should do Samsung things".  Most people don't have a clue what they want a phone to do, other than be a phone and get on the internet.
