A Series & Other MobileSamsung produces some of the best performing phones in the industry. The S series is amazing, and higher end A series can be quite nice as well.
Unfortunately, the A1X series is designed specifically to be a basic communication device at an extremely affordable price point. You cannot reasonably expect flagship or even midrange performance from the A1X series.

A Series & Other MobileIs it merely hot or actually overheating? Just being hot is not a real big deal unless it doesn't cool down. Phones generate heat - between the processor working and the screen luminosity. Depending on what you are doing in those 10 minutes, an A16's processor will work a little harder. When you first start your phone up, it takes battery energy and processing power for it to start up (you should keep it on and only restart once a week), along with looking for updates and possibly backing up your device. Your device only backs up when it's charging and not in use, and is usually done in the wee hours of the morning, unless it can't because your phone is off. Those background processes may generate heat, especially if you are doing other stuff while it's going on. If your phone is overheating, it will protect itself by a) slowing down, b) freezing up, or c) shutting down. It will also give you an overheat warning.
