Samsung, may you guys please better optimize your Social Media apps for One UI and Android? At this point it's getting ridiculous how less smooth apps are on here compared to iOS and it's honestly getting old. This goes beyond just the picture quality btw. From getting weird shades of black and grey in Instagram to overlapping menus in Snapchat, it looks and feels terrible. Even YouTube, A NATIVE ANDROID APP is not properly optimized compared to iPhone. Please Samsung optimize these apps because a properly optimized app changes how the software is viewed, felt, seen, and interacted with so please I beg of you Samsung to please optimize social media apps for One UI/Android already. It would make a big difference, I promise. You would close the gap between Android and iOS even further.

My understanding is that this is outside of Samsung's control and would require third-party devs to optimize for samsung hardware.

Even that presents difficulty because Samsung has such a wide lineup devices, from the A series to the S series to the Z series.

The difference between iOS and Android is no choice vs endless choice. There is no possible way for devs to optimize for every possible device. It is one-size-fits-all by necessity.

They should prioritize the flagship models and make a one size for every other model based off the main ones, only makes sense that the most expensive devices should recieve some kind of premium treatment otherwise what's the point

I see where you're coming from, but Samsung has more control than ever for their software plus you don't have to optimize for every phone made by Samsung that runs Android. You could honestly just do it for the Flagships plus the Midrange phones and that's it.

Again, Samsung does not write third-party applications and has no control over their optimization.

For example, Meta apps are written by developers who work for Meta, not Samsung. iOS apps get priority and are highly optimized because they make up the majority of US market share and therefore bring in the majority of revenue. There is simply no financial incentive for third-party developers to optimize for specific Android devices beyond making them just good enough to run on a wide variety of devices.

There is more to this than just "Financial incentive."

Hello all,

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and providing such detailed feedback. We understand how important app optimization is to deliver a great user experience, especially on social media platforms. Your passion and dedication to improving the ecosystem are truly appreciated.

Weā€™d like to address some of the points raised in this thread.

1. Optimization and Collaboration:
While Samsung is committed to providing a seamless experience with One UI, app optimization is primarily the responsibility of the app developers. That said, Samsung continuously works with developers and partners like Google to encourage better integration and optimization for our devices. Your suggestion to collaborate further with Google is valuable, as both companies play critical roles in enhancing Android as a whole.

2. Fragmentation Challenges:
Androidā€™s diversity is a strength, but it also presents challenges for developers, who must optimize apps for a wide variety of devices and configurations. Samsung devices, from the A series to the flagship S and Z series, reflect this diversity. However, we acknowledge that smoother experiences are possible and will ensure your concerns are communicated internally to help prioritize improvements.

3. Focus on Feedback, Not Switching Devices:
We understand that many users, like you, are deeply invested in Samsungā€™s ecosystem and want to see it excel. Providing constructive feedback is essential for improvement, and your analogy comparing phones to cars highlights why optimizing what you already own is preferable to switching devices. Rest assured, your feedback is a valuable part of this process.

4. Consistency and Long-Term Improvements:
We recognize the frustration caused by glitches during beta testing or inconsistencies with apps like Instagram, Snapchat, and YouTube. These challenges highlight the importance of creating more consistent standards for optimization across Android devices. While iOS benefits from a more unified ecosystem, your feedback underscores the need for further collaboration between Samsung, Google, and third-party developers to achieve similar results on Android.

5. Third-Party Developer Role:
Many apps, such as those developed by Meta, prioritize iOS due to market share and revenue considerations. While Samsung doesnā€™t directly control these apps, we continue to advocate for better optimization for our platform. Weā€™ll ensure your feedback is shared with the relevant teams to explore opportunities for collaboration and improvement.

Thank you again for being an active member of the Beta community and for offering thoughtful input. Your feedback is invaluable in driving the progress needed to make One UI and Android an even better experience for everyone.

Regards,

One UI Beta Team
