Samsung’s interface has featured a lock screen unlocking animation, where the screen appears to shrink and adjust to its size, since the end of the TouchWiz era.

However, in One UI 7, unlocking to the home screen displays an animation where the icons start small and then expand to their correct size, creating the appearance of adjustment.

This animation brings a fresh change to the long-standing unlocking animation, offering a more refreshing and enjoyable user experience.

That said, the unlocking animation in One UI 7 only appears when the screen is locked while on the home screen, and not when the screen is locked with an app open.

This inconsistency feels quite noticeable, and the issue has been mentioned in various posts within the beta community.

While it’s understandable that displaying the expanding animation when an app is open might be challenging, adding at least a minimal animation would be appreciated.

Or, you could refer to the suggestion below for how to implement the expanding animation even when an app is open and apply it accordingly.

I created this animation myself. It is the same expanding animation, with a bounce effect at the end to make it feel consistent with how it appears when unlocking when we locked the phone when on lock screen.

The corner rounding should match the display's curvature to maintain visual harmony.

To explain the general mechanism of the animation: after unlocking, the colors of the background and the app screen (e.g., white for predominantly white screens, black for predominantly black screens) blend translucently with the background. Gradually, the color shifts closer to that of the app screen. At the same time, the blur intensity of the background increases, and the app screen, which starts small with only the corners blurred, gradually becomes less blurred and more transparent as it expands.
