Washers and Dryers

Out top loader was in the middle of a wash cycle when it started blinking and would not drain. It did not give an error message. We turned the washer off and then back on to see if it would drain and it did not. We unplugged it and plugged it back in then started a normal wash cycle and it flashes the wash light but won't fill, drain, or start a cycle. We also attempted a spin only and that also did not work. This machine is less than 1 year old. Thanks

Have you verified that the washer is leveled properly by checking to see if the tub is located in the center when you open the lid?

If your washer won't start, the buttons won't work, will not turn on, or the control knob won't select a different cycle, you probably have Child Lock turned on. If your Child Lock icon is lit or flashing, this confirms it. Turning Child Lock off will usually take care of your problem. If the Child Lock is off and the unit still won't start, continue with the steps below.

Check for moisture in the panel.

Moisture in the panel is normal, especially if the washer is in a humid location. Allow the panel to dry and try again.

Confirm that setting is available.

Some settings and features do not work with every cycle. If the button works on some cycles but not others, this is normal. See the appendix in your user manual for which settings can be used with each cycle on your model.

Make sure the power cord is plugged in.

The outlet needs to be a well-grounded, 120V, three-prong outlet, protected by a 20-amp circuit. To confirm the outlet is working, plug in something else, like a lamp.

Check the power cord is not damaged.

If the power cord is damaged, visit our Support Center to request service.

Verify the laundry room has its own dedicated circuit.

Your washer and dryer will typically share the same circuit, although electric dryers require a 240V outlet that a washer cannot use. Do not have any other devices on the same circuit as the washer and dryer.

Check if the circuit breaker has been tripped.

Tripped circuits often look like they're on (see the lowest circuit in the image). To be sure, switch the circuit off, then back on again.

Make sure the washer is not plugged into a surge protector.

Samsung does not recommend using surge protectors with our washers.

Unplug the washer for 60 seconds, and then try again.

Note: Make sure that you are quickly pressing the button down instead of holding it down

If the above troubleshooting steps didn't help, here are some service options:

- If your unit was recently purchased, you can check with your retailer on their return/exchange process.

- If you have an extended warranty you can reach out to them to have service processed.

- If you're within the one year warranty, you can Private message one of our moderators to have service set up. PM Link.

It's a Samsung WA54R7200A.  What do you need serial number for?

I just figured out that the problem is the lid lock won't work.  It doesn't automatically lock when the start button is pushed.
