We just purchased a new top-load Samsung washer, and the usage guide has a specific note to NOT use color-safe bleach through the dispenser, only liquid chlorine bleach.  But it gives no reasons why, or what the risks are for color-safe bleach.  Does anyone have insight into the "why" of this requirement?  Thanks in advance!

Im not exactly sure but this is what Google states the reasoning is.

Samsung washing machines often specify to avoid using color-safe bleach in the bleach dispenserInstead, it's recommended to add color-safe bleach directly to the detergent compartment or the wash tub. This is because the bleach dispenser is typically designed for chlorine bleach and may not be compatible with the chemicals in color-safe bleach.

Here's why this distinction is important:
  • Bleach Dispenser Compatibility:
The bleach dispenser is designed to release chlorine bleach at the correct time during the wash cycle. Color-safe bleach, which often contains hydrogen peroxide, may not be compatible with this mechanism and could potentially damage the dispenser or not be dispensed properly.

  • Proper Dilution:
Adding color-safe bleach directly to the detergent compartment or tub allows for better dilution and even distribution of the bleach with the detergent and water, ensuring it doesn't come into direct contact with fabrics in concentrated form.

  • Safety:
While color-safe bleach is generally gentler than chlorine bleach, it's still important to follow the manufacturer's instructions for proper use to avoid any potential issues.

Youโ€™re welcome.  All color bleach must be a thicker liquid than regular bleach.
