Screen will sometimes become unresponsive to touch when turned on (cover is lifted).

Problem: turn on screen by lifting cover after a while of inactivity
Randomly, screen will not respond to touch
Solution: must turn screen off then on again in order to get it to work.

Frequency: varies, seems to happen at random.

When this started happening: After the update to Android 13, One UI 5

Samsung Galaxy S7 tablet

What I did so far... Turned off Automatic unlock in the Accessories category of settings. (So far so good).

What Samsung said: seems to be "cover mode error." They wanted me to record it happening, but it's random! I can't get it to happen at will.
I've read that others were having problems with waking their screen and it becoming unresponsive, but the majority of those are on phones. Any other tablet users experience this?

I have two settings, auto unlock, and auto screen on and off. Do i disable both?

They both turn off when you use "Auto Screen on and off", so turn that off.

Update for me, 2 days ago, I cleared cache from the recovery menu, then ran, repair apps. Rebooted then I toggled the accessories automation lock, and auto screen on and off settings (both are still on).... so far, this issue has not reoccurred. If it happens again, I'll update my post.

When you "cleared cache from the recovery menu", did you have to connect your tablet to a computer? Mine seems to demand that.

Just received a reply from my bug report:

"our colleagues have had a look at this, and it seems that this has now been fixed. Please do check for any pending updates on your phone to get this sorted. To do this head into the device Settings> Software update> Download and install."

So it looks like it's a known problem and has been fixed, but I have no pending updates on my end yet. Maybe it'll get rolled into an upcoming update? I guess we'll see...
