I assume you're trying to get into the device? Unfortunately, it is not possible to bypass the device pin or password if you don't know it. The only option would be a factory reset, which would wipe any data you are trying to recover.
If you are just wanting access to the device, you can factory reset it, but doing so will most likely activate FRP (factory reset protection) and the device will only be able to accessed by entering the previously associated Gmail account and password.
If you have access to the Gmail account you may also be able to check Google drive/photos and recover any files that have been automatically uploaded.
If you do not have this info, I am sorry to say it is unlikely that you will be able to recover either the data or the device.
Do you have any kind of documentation that says she leaves it to you? You could get help breaking into it that way, but nobody who can do that would be able to help you without some kind of legal documentation, but I'm not sure if they would do it for a regular person anyway. I'm gonna ask.
Did she set any of her settings that says her data can be handed over after so many years of inactivity? You should ask ask about that too.

I had that problem with my Samsung tablet and I DID get back even though everyone said it was impossible..I forgot my pattern(I switched it just before I fell asleep, and of coursei didn't write it down) I just kept touching it all over( for afew days) FINALLY smartthings ( something I kept exing out!)
