Samsung Messages on my S25 Ultra is stuck on version 15.7.04.3 while my friend's S24 Ultra got a new icon with OneUI 7 and is on version 16.1.10.62. Version 16 was supposed to be released in OneUI 7 but I never got it. Version 15 is from OneUI 6.1 which the S25 Ultra never even had. Can we expect a new update with stable OneUI 8.5 release or are we permanently stuck with v15?Screenshot_20251230_214308_One UI Home.jpg

Samsung Messages has RCS via carrier, Knox security, built-in link sharing, sandbox, perfect One UI dark mode & color palette match, great reachability, clean design, category tabs, more power-efficient. Also, you can use any picture in your gallery as a background. Most of these things are missing in Google Messages.

Hmm. That's weird. My Samsung Messages has RCS support via Google's Jibe RCS which is the same system used by Google Messages

So when you switch from Samsung Messages to Google Messages and back, does RCS activate immediately on Samsung Messages? Can you include a screenshot?

It sometimes works instantly and other times doesn't. It depends on the implementation. You can verify if your Samsung Messages uses Jibe by going into app settings and clicking on these 2 buttons. It will open Google Help center about RCS and Jibe RCS Terms of Service. There would be no reason for Samsung to put these there if it didn't use Jibe. If someone is able to register Verizon into Samsung Messages that would mean that they 100% switched to Jibe RCS.

Oh, okay. I see now. So, that was the plan for Samsung to switch to Google Messages, but they didn't. What you see there is for Google Messages, not for Samsung Messages. Look at the top when you open it; it says Google Messages. Samsung Messages still go through the carrier, and all the major networks support RCS, like T-Mobile, AT&T, and Verizon.

Didn't Verizon end support though? Also my small Slovak carrier 4ka works fine in Samsung Messages even though it sometimes doesn't work even in Google Messages and there's no way they would have their own infrastructure to support Samsung Messages. To me it looks like they switched from their own proprietary RCS to Google's Jibe RCS and the deal was they would set Google Messages as default.

That's not true because I have Verizon and I have RCS on Samsung Messages.

I think the Verizon block was not perfect. That's why it takes days to be activated

I have no issues with RCS and Apple users while using Samsung Messages. What problems do you see?
