Samsung Internet – Non-Deletable System App Undermines User Control

Despite user preference for third-party browsers, Samsung Internet remains embedded as a non-removable system app on U.S.-bound devices. Even with all permissions revoked and battery usage restricted, the app continues to run passively, appearing in usage logs and background activity.

Key Concerns:
- Cannot be uninstalled – Only hidden or disabled, but not removed
- Passive invocation – App runs despite restrictions, with misleading battery usage reports
- Transparency gap – “0% battery use” does not reflect actual background activity
- User choice ignored – No option to fully opt out in favor of preferred browsers

Community Impact:

This issue has been raised repeatedly across forums, with consistent feedback from users seeking full control over their device environment. The inability to remove Samsung Internet erodes trust and limits optimization efforts for those who benchmark and refine system performance.

Request for Change:

Samsung should offer a toggle to fully disable or uninstall Samsung Internet for users who opt for alternatives. Passive invocation should be logged transparently, and battery usage should reflect actual activity. Respecting user choice is foundational to a responsive and trustworthy ecosystem.

Yes, that is odd. I see no option uninstall or disable.
Also, the Samsung App Store has several comments to this effect and each time, the same response is it cannot be uninstalled. 1755673331225.jpg1755673474933.jpg

Nice LLM copy and paste.

If you are really concerned about removing Samsung internet, use an ADB with a PC and completely remove it. It will no longer have any data usage at all. Install the browser of one's choice to use beforehand as a precautionary measure. Also note, that while this removes Samsung's app from the app drawer and current system and will no longer use any resources, it will still be in the protected system partition in case of a need to format and reinstall the phone back to factory settings. Then Samsung internet will be reinstalled again.
