I think Gaussian Blur & Frosted Glass Effects need to be added everywhere throughout the UI. Keep the amoled black in areas but add blur to the gray areas. (Settings menues everywhere, dialer, contacts, calculator, calender, keyboard, everywhere)
These are some examples of the settings menu with some frosted glass. I'm not an expert so if you guys did the blur it would look much better than these attempts at showing what is in my head
