I'll be honest that this functionality is confusing and I finally figured out how to use it.

If this feature is switched on, adaptive power saving will never turn on. The user must manually switch Power Savings to 'on' in order for the user to then be promoted to select the apps that should be available when the feature is enabled.

As such, I think this feature should be moved out of this general Power Saving screen. Instead it should display as a separate feature next to Power Saving. Perhaps it should even be a mode that the user can readily turn on or off.

Otherwise, the Adaptive Power Savings feature should be allowed to turn on and readily prompt the user to select specific apps should Maximum power saving be selected beforehand.

Long story short, usability of this feature should be researched further.

Completely agree. Adaptive Power Saving needs more fine tuning. Especially the fact that all it does is turn on or off power saving. Instead, it should be able to dynamically adjust settings so that, depending on what you're doing, it won't cost you too much performance (if you're gaming, for example). Like if I'm gaming, it could turn on dark mode to save battery but keep CPU at 100% and refresh rate at adaptive instead of standard to save some battery but not lose performance. Then if it detects that I'm really low and might not see a charger soon, it could turn on other settings. It should also learn my usage and charging patterns. This way it's truly adaptive.
